What a year!
We have been so lucky to have experienced many adventures together as a family this year.
We have had overseas adventures, interstate travel and local explorations.
Here is our wrap up month by month of this year, 2015.
Over our Summer we stayed within our own state. We live a 5 minute walk to the beach so we enjoyed many beach days.
Andrew worked through the school holidays so most of the time it was just me and the kids. I also took the kids to Sovereign Hill for some gold panning and Australian History lessons. It didn’t quite all go to plan.
I took Pepper to see a show at the arts centre in Melbourne. The tiger who came for tea. We spent the night in the city together.
Cooper also participates in the Disabled Surfing Association event this month and in March. It is a highlight of his year and its an amazing experience for everyone involved.
Our school year starts now but the evenings are still warm and bright. Cooper turned 10 and I interviewed him here.
This month as Autumn begins we headed to explore the beautiful Murdoch Cruden Farm.
We also went to Laos for the first time. We flew to KL then Bangkok then got the sleeper train to the border at Nong Khai.
For more great sleeper train ideas check out this Lonely Planet article.
While still enjoying SE Asia we headed home for Easter holidays. I also enjoyed a cultural tour of Dandenong learning more about the Afghan culture and food.
We loved exploring the Hot Springs this month down on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria. Great place for families to enjoy.
Its also beautiful to walk home from school together and catch up on the day.
The big kids and I also explored Melbourne city for a day. We loved pretending we were tourists in our own city.
During the June school holidays we adventured to the Yarra Valley for a few days. We explored the chocolate factory, Healesville Sanctuary and a winery. The kids love a road trip and love practising their navigation skills with map reading.
Cooper also enjoyed school camp for three days testing out his skills on giant swings and accessible rope courses.
We explored the local wine region on the Mornington Peninsula. We had a great day at the Olive festival. at Montalto Winery in Red Hill.
I jumped on a plane alone for the first time since having the kids. I loved three days to explore Port Douglas in Far North Queensland.
After getting some amazing sale fares with Airasa we headed to explore Penang in Malaysia. We loved our food and cultural adventures here. We have learnt a lot from travelling with kids over the last few years.
We explored the Festival of lights in Dandenong as well as a great art tour of the city.
We headed to Bali for the first time as a family. It had been 20 years since I was last there. We stayed in both Sanur and Ubud and tried private villas for the first time.
Summer is back with time at the beach for enjoying dinner while the kids swim. School is finishing up and I can’t wait to have the kids at home and be able to just be! We have a few road trips planned to explore more of Victoria.
We have many new adventures planned for next year. A few little surprise trips, Japan in April, SriLanka in June and we are dreaming of a white Christmas 2016.
Thankyou for following our journey this year , we hope we have inspired your family to go out and explore even if it’s just down the road, into the city, interstate or overseas.
