Christmas in Melbourne.

Christmas in Melbourne.
Spread the love

Each year we enjoy heading into the city of Melbourne to experience Christmas.  It is summer time with warm nights are perfect for strolling through the city streets. Last year we stayed overnight in the city as a mini getaway.  There is so much happening at this time of year its the perfect place to adventure with kids.

Our first stop is always Myer to see the Christmas windows which will be unveiled on November 10th this year. Each year over 1.2 million people come to see these famous windows and this year is the 60th birthday celebration.

The kids then pull us up to the toys section of Myer and to explore the Giftorium. The Giftorium has everything in one spot, on one level, in one area! Something for everyone rather than having to go up and down to different departments. Giftorium will be in each Myer store. There will be 2.5 million products on offer. So much easier when shopping with kids just to go to one spot!

Last year the kids loved Santaland and riding the little train as well as trying out the newest toys.  This year Santaland will launch on Tuesday November 10th to coincide with the unveiling of the Christmas windows. It is expected this year that 120,000 kids will visit Santa at Myer.

This year we were lucky enough to attend a media event thanks to Kids Business and Myer to be amongst the first to experience Giftorium for 2015. The official opening will be November 14th. Come along and see Dami Im and High-5 here in Melbourne.

There are some great pop up shops within Giftorium that have the perfect personalised gifts.

Here is what we discovered! Our top picks for 2015!

Woody loved the Disney section best! Its a real life Woody!

Cooper got to do Jedi Training. Watch the action here! Myer has more than 100,000 of Star Wars merchandise available! Cooper loved the light sabers and dressing up as Darth Vader. Pepper made the cutest Chewbacca! Squeals of delight as she watched herself on the news!

Pepper loved making a moss flower hanging with My Flower house who are running workshops on Tuesdays at Myer on the ground floor. More details are on their site.

Build a bear has a pop up shop on site! The only one of it’s kind. The Star Wars teddies are really cool!

We also made lots of new friends!

My top pick is personalised Nutella! Perfect for anyone and everyone! Available in the Melbourne store from now or online from November 6th.

More information: wheelchair access

Myer Melbourne is universally accessible. There are lifts to all levels and 2 bridges to get across to different areas. There are smooth flat surfaces throughout the departments. Accessible bathrooms available. Some exits have only steps but there are many ways to exit/enter with staff happy to point you in the right direction.

Thankyou to both Myer and Kids Business for sharing the Christmas spirit with us.
